Majel Barrett – A little less sizzle today

Today, at the age of 76, one of the true queens of science-fiction, Majel Barrett Roddenberry, passed away. Majel started acting in the ’50s, but in 1966 joined the cast of Star Trek as Number One, then Nurse/Doctor Chapel, Lwaxana Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as the voice of the ship computer in countless episodes and movies of the Star Trek world (including the forthcoming “Star Trek” film). Majel was also active after Trek, bringing both Earth: Final Conflict and Andromeda to the small screen. Her impact on science fiction film and television, both on her own and through her influence on her husband, cannot be overstated.
